An early morning shot in Connemara just before the sun came out. This is known as the blue hour in photography. It’s that time before sunrise and after sunset when there is neither complete brightness nor complete darkness.
During ‘blue hour’ photography , one encounters scenes of significantly increased dynamic range due to the luminosity of the sky vs the foreground. I’ve taken a lot of my ‘blue hour’ pictures within 12 hours of continuous shooting. This involves shooting the evening blue hour then to continue photographing right through the night until blue hour before sunrise. I should also add that one needs enough red bull and chocolate to sustain this mentally certifiable 12 hour shoot.
